Bio

Something Blue started watching from the wings at the Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue in 2011 as a stage manager and kitten, but couldn’t stay backstage forever. Following her first solo performance in July 2013 and graduation from the Austin Academy of Burlesque, Blue became a member of Naked Girls Reading-Austin and the Austin Burlesque Alliance. She joined the Jigglewatts as an official member in 2015, and has since she’s been on four west coast tours and a European tour including visits to France, Switzerland and Germany. As a soloist, Something Blue has performed at several burlesque festivals including Texas, Dallas, Colorado, Oregon, Mile High and Munich and was recently crowned the very first “Metalesque God” of the Texas Metal Burlesque and Variety Festival.

Blue has a deep love for history, fine art, music and cinema. She has formal training in Jazz from Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Ailey Studios in New York City and ballet from the Florida Youth Ballet. She studied burlesque at the Austin Academy of Burlesque under the instruction of her mentor, Ruby Joule and legendary burlesque performer, Coco Lectric.  She is also a classically trained Alto and has performed at Carnegie Hall, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Bass Concert Hall and with the Austin Civic Chorus. In addition to dance and music, Blue studied cinema at l’Université de St. Denis in Paris and at the University of Texas in Austin. Her love of classic movies and iconic films has heavily influence her burlesque style. Whether it’s cinematic pastiche, historical tableau or an epic rock anthem, Blue’s education and interests shine through in her art. Her history on the boards has given her a love of the theatrical and grandiose which is strongly represented in her costuming and act construction. Her neo-classical style combines the nostalgic with a modern flare.

“An adorable, wavy-haired brunette with cherubic cheeks” according to Jacob Mauldin of Piney Woods Live Magazine, Something Blue is more than just a pretty face. An insatiable tease, she’s “a glass of champagne with a floater of liquor; a high brow blue joke.” She’s something old, she’s something new, she’s Something Blue.
